I've been trawling the net for some nice freeware and wanted to share some of my finds:
(All of these are high quality, native FSX aircraft).

1. Aero Commander-Meyers 200D by

A very nice light aircraft. Nice details. When you bank a little, you see the coiled wires under the controls dangle. The writing in the cockpit is in French, but don't worry the yellow tooltips are in English.

3. C-97 by Roland Berger, Manfred Jahn, William N. Davidson, Dan McManus, Wayne Tudor and Ted Wolfgang. fsx_boeing_c97_v1b.zip on flightsim.com. READ CAREFULLY which updates you need!

This is a project still in development but it's very flyable. You get a 2d panel for the buttons that are still missing in the cockpit. For those who don't like the idea of flying a military aircraft with passengers: there's also a civil looking repaint on fs.com. It's also a good replacement for the L-100 as there isn't a good native freeware L-100/C-130 for FSX. It's a bit slower, but on the other hand more maneuverable.

4. Basler BT-67 by . To my opinion the best FSX freeware around.

7. Dehavilland DHC7 Dash 7 for FSX Acceleration by Milton Shupe. soh_dhc7x.zip on fs.com. This aircraft has been around for fs2004 for quite a while but this is an update with native FSX cockpit.

It's a very friendly aircraft to fly. This is a very interesting aircraft because it has all the features like spoilers, reverse thrust, retracting gear etc. The gauges aren't a 100% in FSX; for me the trim needle doesn't seem to move. The outside is perfect, the cockpit is reasonable with some flat looking fs2004 style gauges like the gear lever(technically a gauge in FSX). The fs2004 model is also updated. Sadly our ACH paint for the older Shupe Dash 7 isn't compatible any more(both in fs2004 AND FSX). The names for the various bmps don't match and when opened in DXTbmp they look quite different. So there's a job for repainters right there.

If you want to play a rich businessperson or her/his pilot this is the freeware craft you want. The exterior is very good. The VC is OK and complete. The overall flying experience is a bit like the default FSX jets. When you're used to bigger passenger jets this light performance jet is quite something different. It tends to go nose up after take off etc. maybe because these business jets have a lot of stuff at the back of the fuselage(engines, wings further back).

The VC of this old turboprop was a real surprise. A very good representation of the interior of a worn, old aircraft. Rusty bars and patched up seats. And everything in the cockpit works and it's a joy to fly.

Another great find:

It looks a lot like the Citation X and has a similar quality. But the FDE is a lot better; it flies very well.

I like the way the flaps and speed-brakes look when extended, very well done.

The pilots look a bit strange with those faces stuck on them but they can be fixed with some textures.

Maybe they largely copied the default Learjet FDE but it's the result that counts. Maybe I'll copy the FDE over to the Citation X so that it's a bit more flyable. The Lear VC works OK but I have some good private jet VCs in my hangar so I'll tinker a bit with it.

Flight1 Cessna 162 SkyCatcher(FSX)

A new find: . A former payware plane has become freeware. That's one of the advantages of a simulator that has been around for so long.
[imgpop]http://www.flight1.com/images/skycatcher1.jpg[/imgpop]

I've tested it and it's a very nice light aircraft. You shouldn't be in a hurry though; it's quite slow obviously. It looks very crisp, especially the cockpit. It's a very light plane with an interior that feels a bit like a car.
[imgpop]http://www.flight1.com/images/skyc1.jpg[/imgpop]

The pilots look quite decent; that's something that often puts me off, especially with smaller planes. But no problem here. Some developers tend to put very weird creations into the cockpit, even in payware.

The modern Garmin gauges are really nice and I haven't seen them in any freeware before. And...you can now fly it as a charter for Air-Child because it's a fine replacement for the C172 when you want something more than a default plane.
