ATR 72 500 crashing FSX in Windows 7

Hi fellow pilots.
I recently switched from FS2004 to FSX and haven't been able to fly ATR 72 500 since.
I was researching all over the internet and it seems that many, many people are having the sam issue and some of them are able to solve it some of them are not.
The problem is that ATR 72 500 crashes my FSX to desktop at the moment I choose it and press ok. I managed to find out that the troublemaking file is F1ATRB.dll in FSX\Gauges folder. I can fly ATR when I remove that file but without any gauges whatsoever!
Some people made ATR work by installing it in windows safe mode and running instalation as administrators. I followed all these steps but still am unable to make it work.
Since probably a lot of people here fly ATR I decided to post this here hoping that maybe someone else was experiencing the same problem and was able to solve it.
I know it's a long shot but I had to try
Thanks in advance...

I had a similar problem, this is very important for most of Flight1 products and Windows7:

Download this dll and put it in C:\Windows\SysWOW64:

After that, use this tool to register it: Just browse to where your dx7vb.dll file is, and hit the register button.

This is only for Flight1 dll problems in Windows 7!

Hi Zejlko,
so you are with the ATR72-500 F1 as well. If you do not mind I have some questions:
a) I bought the plane yesterday as download from F1 - do I need any other files or SP etc. to run this plane properly?
b) Is there any way to hide the Yoke in the VC.
c) Are there keystrokes for manipulating the plane - more then as only for the FSX system - but for the custom system?
d) I do not understand how to use the repaints, I am not able to use the ACH liveries. don not really understand the readme.

Maybe you or some other pilot is able to help me.
Kind Regards Tom

There is 1 service pack I believe (may be already incuded with your installer if only just bought) but that is from back in 2007
Also when it rained, I could only see blue out of the window, there is a fix file for this too, so run a test in rainy weather to make sure you can see. This may have also been fixed in your package
b) Is there any way to hide the Yoke in the VC.
Click at the very base of the yoke where it meets with the floor

d) I do not understand how to use the repaints, I am not able to use the ACH liveries. don not really understand the readme.

Copy the ACH folder from the download to ' Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Flight One ATR 72-500 ' folder
Open the Aircraft.cfg file (in notepad) which is in the same folder.

There should be 3 sections at the top, [fltsim.0] [fltsim.1] [fltsim.2] add...
Code:

[fltsim.3]
title=Flight 1 ATR 72-500 Air-Child

after them then save file.

(Back up the aircraft.cfg before making any changes)

Hej, Zeljko, thanks, I'll try that. I'm just not clear about what folder exactly is that? It says SysWOW64 in your post... Since I have 32bit windows 7 I guess that would be my system32 folder?

Thanks Andrew - now it works
I have only some parts around the autopilot panel and under the autopilot panel where I can look through - there is a grafic issue. do you know a fix. I am carefully with SP1 I wait for a F1 support answer, cause I di not know if the SP1 is included in the actual download.
Cheers Tom

Yes, It's sys32 folder. I'm not sure about 32 bit version, but I did a quick search and it seems to work on 32 system too:

Tom - Andrew has solved all these problems with ATR, regarding graphic issue, can you post some screenshots?

Hi Zeljko,
I will as soon as possible the errors are in the OVHD when switching Nav or Beacon etc. on and grey textures above and below the AP Panel - both in the VC.
Cheers Tom

Well, it didn't work for me... I used dx7vb, did another reinstall but...
I guess I'm just one of the unlucky ones :)

Yup... I spent the whole day trying to find the solution on the internet... Believe me, I am not the only one with this issue... Ah well... :D

Actually I asked for a refund. This does not work. It is a hobby not a full time work. F1 does not really support this plane anymore in a technical way. You only get a very old installer which does not really fit for modern systems like win7 / 32 or 64 bit. If I had known this before I had never bought this plane. Let us see what F1 will say.
Cheers Tom

Actually F1 ATR is much better in fs9, even flight dynamics seems to be better then in FSX, I don't know why. And it has more issues in FSX, you didn't see anything yet
I think you should try to install Flight One ATR Service Pack 3.0 and after that Service Pack 1a for FSX, maybe this can help. But in FSX, F1 ATR is not so good comparing it with NGX or PMDG JS41(which is turboprop too), so I hope that F1 will approve your refund. There is some interesting planes(I think I tried all of them for fsx), but only a few are complete simulation

Very true.

The FSX version isn't actually an FSX version. It is the FS9 version quickly modded to work in FSX. So much so, that when you view outside of the plane, if you are flying in clouds, you won't see any propellers. :(

Yes I hope so to - today I got no answer from F1. We will see. Actually same troubles as in XP - we say in cinema production always "yes same she but different" The PMDG NGX was worth to go to FSX but now - you said the Maddog is a cool one. Is it in our VA?

By the way now F1 agreed to the refund, if I delete everything concerning their ATR from my computer. I hope deleting will not affect my system.....it is a hell really....this does not feel like a hobby.....I do not have any time anymore for my work..... :x
Cheers Tom

It is in our VA, in charter fleet. Maddog will beat NGX if he get new sound and visuals. There is available sound from TSS, but visuals are done with old technology and becouse of that he has FPS impact in FSX. But systems, procedures and flight dynamics are awesome

This should not be a problem with F1 ATR, but anyway, If you have any problems - just run this utility:

thnks Zeljko,
what is it? :)

and can you tell me a save method to delete a plane from FSX without getting more new problems?

Cheers Tom

Some addon planes replaced FSX original gauges during installation, and after you uninstall them - there is no gauges left. This is gauges recovery utility

Tom

Just uninstall it normally, there is no problems with this one I think. You will receive a message on next FSX startup if something is wrong
