FSX taxi lights

Whenever I taxi in the dark, in either ATR or 747, even with taxi lights and landing lights on, I can not see a thing on the ground.

Is there some way to make the taxi lights better on these planes?

Found a problem with the ATR

If I switch on one of the interior lights, it stops the taxi light working.
