Shorst story: on polish vatsim/pl-vacc forum we are now discussing x-plane options, also in context of switching FS to x-plane. During discuss we dabated about option to converst some basic sceneries from FS to XPL. One of effects was creation of simple topic with few photos from mine comp representing XPL with converted sceneries in my usual gfx config and maxed out.

Sceneries are:
- default global scenery 9
- converted EPWA for fs9 from pl-vacc.org
- converted EPBC for fs9 from drzewiecki-design.net
- converted freeware project Warsaw 3D (from my old archives)
- winter land for XPL9
All eceneries was only converted by fs2xplane. In case of EPWA single file was replaced: converstion generates 2 airport files, one basic and one "complete" (in basic only visible things are inserted, in complete there is all, enev if author wanted something to be invisible), i've used complete option for this airport.

XPL during hight load, when FPS are very low for some time generates "fog" that helps improve fps, but it looks unnatural in cavok conditions. Mine comp is not powerfull enough to run with full details, so that fog will be visible on some screens. All photos are taken with cavok (or almost cavok) conditions during day and early morning.

Left screen is "fps friendly" and is described with "a", right one is "eyecandy" and is described as "b".

1a. For one who know EPWA. There is too much grass terrain and overlaps in this scenery, but its easy to fix in scenery editor.
1b. Same area in max details. No big diffrence can be seen.

2a. More grass, where it should not be. Easy to fix, just need to move few points in editor.
2b. Woooa, MUCH better textures an "few" additional autogen buildings make this city look like... city :D

3a. Radar dome is in wrong place (that would be outside airport in reality), in far end of City is visible one of main buildings called PKiN with is Palace of Culture and Science. About radar - converter is unable to convert animations, so this radar does not spin.
3b. Not much visible diff in 1st plane, but hell lots of buildings in background.

4a. Cargo terminal and pax terminals far away. We have here one of two messed taxiway tesxtures on left, missaligned and doubled with underlaying one.
4b. Much better textures made terminal name visible.

5a. This is second messed texture of h/p rwy 29.
5b. Much higher texture resolution, but look closer to storage tanks in background - they had not much detail in "a" version.

6a. Warsaw by night. Few area with no lights on taxiways are one covered by additional textures with make lighting invisible. Basic version of airport file had MUCH more that kind of missing lighting.
So complex version is used, and basic vs complex in day have minimal doffrences.
6b. First fog from XPL generated visibility lowering system. But city is visible...

7a. Night close look to pax terminal. Not stunning, but main taxilines are lighted.
7b. MUCH better terminal textures, but nothing more?

8a. On far end we have EPWA, on close we have few main highrisers in city from Warsaw 3D. Roads are autogen and far from real. That brown strange "rocketlike" building is PKiN.
8b. Almost same spot as earlier. Same direction, but airport is not visible becaus of fog, but its still CAVOK :D You can see now many small buildings and more roads from autogen. Higher textures on buildings.

9a. This is converted EPBC airport, but is doubled, probably because i have doubled scenery somwhere. On far end blurred lighting of EPWA including halo on clouds.
9b. Diffs mostly in background - number of buildings. But in closer look we would see also highres ground and building textures (but not in this shot). And again XPL fog for making fps better.

10a. Rendering options for "a" series of images. My normal flight configuration. Not much detail, not much objects visible, but in most cases around 30fps, only in denser locations like converted photreal PHNL scenery it drops to around 19 FPS.
10b. All maxed all visible settings for "b" series.

So. In my opinion XPL is at least same as FS9 in low/med details, but may be killer for FSX in max details, especially water details, reflection and weather effects, witch are not visible on those screens :D
