Congratulations, Canada! A great match on both sides, and a worthy gold medalist

... and sorry if you're not interested in hockey and I just wasted your time

Turned it on just in time for OT ... then was on pc and missed the goal

I've lost touch of all the players these days though, has Wayne Gretzky retired yet?

Nah, his spirit is always with them
(he was watching the match in the stadium, of course)

btw: as a little celebration, we are currently twittering Hockey Canada (don't worry, will be back to normal, soon) Just read this:
Americans push for the tying goal, but LUUUUUUUUUU slams the door.
 Love it!

Hi folks!

I know this thread is a few months old, but since I'm new here (and from Canada), I thought I would respond. Here are a few facts about hockey. Hockey was first played in the town of Windsor in my home Province, Nova Scotia. Now, that is what I believe to be true, but, the real truth is...

Early to mid-1800s:
Ice hockey as we know it was first played in either Windsor, Nova Scotia, Kingston, Ontario or Montreal, Quebec, depending on who you believe and how you read the evidence.

Sidney Crosby grew up playing hockey in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia which is now part of the Halifax Regional Municipality... where I live. I wish I could say I know him personally, but even though his family home is only 10 minutes from mine, I have never met him! :)

Also, I don't think I ever want to go through another tournament like that. We Canadians love our hockey, but we get VERY frustrated when our National Team have "shaky" games. There were a few moments when I thought I was going to pull out all my hair... and I don't have much left as it is (as I am 52 years old)!

And we Germans love our soccer. But we too get VERY frustrated when our National Team have "shaky" games. Hopefully not so in the upcomming World Cup in South Africa, because there were (a few) many moments when I thought I was going to pull out all my hair...
B.t.w. I´m 52 years old

 :? just wondering how it would be if Nigeria won the 2010 fifa cup ...

anyway ice hockey in Nigeria   ... we would need to sort out how to power the rinks without the ice melting before OT
