sorry but I forget a very important point - please read the tutorial again point 3 and 6 are new and important - sorry but I forgot this....

p2p with xplane works with:

PC connected to PC : yes
PC connected to Mac Intel : yes
PC connected to Mac PPC : no
Mac Intel connected to Mac PPC : no
Mac PPC connected to Mac PPC : yes it should

What is p2p: it is a direct connection between your xplane computer and the xplane computer of your p2p partner. It does not go through another server like VATSIM or IVAO or others. the information you get from your p2p partner causes your xplane to render the plane of the partner in the same positon he is but on your screen to - so you are able to fly together and see the other plane near you in the same resolution and colours as you see your plane. and as you have much more transmissions in a second as on the VATSIM NET the movements will be very smooth.

First step: prepare your machine
1) all p2p online pilots have to have a folder called ONLINE in the aircarft folder. all of the p2p group have to have the same aircrafts in this folder. and for the p2p flight you choose one of this aircrafts - only from this ONLINE folder! best is if the whole group has exactly the same planes with exactly the same liveries in this ONLINE folder.

2) You have to open your router ports for xplane. Mostly they are called NAT rules. Open UDP and TCP Port 49000 of your xplane computer.
TCP Port 49000 for IP 192.168.xxxxxx (this is your local IP number of your xplane machine and can be different then here)
UDP Port 49000 for IP 192.168.xxxxxx (this is your local IP number of your xplane machine and can be different then here))
if you have more then one computer in your local network sometimes the local IPs are changing - so be sure that the PORTS are open on the xplane machine and not on another computer.

3) make sure that your xplane plugin folder does not contain the xsquawkbox plugin (or any other network plugin)

Second step - make a date with a p2p partner:
4) go to http://whatismyipaddress.com/
and write down your IP adress - this is the adress of your router - your connection to the world - write down this IP number and take the phone or write an email to give this IP adress to the others of the p2p group (my advice - start with one partner!!) And you will get the IP adress of your p2p partner as well.
(everytime you start a p2p you have to look at the outside IP with http://whatismyipaddress.com/ cause this IPs are changing constantly.)

4) So you gave this IP to your p2p partner and got his IP as well.
now back to xplane go to: Settings - Net connections - IP of Multiplayer:
enable one of them (best first one for beginning) and write down the IP adress which you got from your p2p partner and look if it is Port 49000 (default xplane port)

5) as soon as you did this and your partner did this as well with your IP you should see a transmission message in yellow in the grey filed. there you see an IP adress to - this is only the IP adress of your xplane computer inside your local network - this is not the IP which you give to the p2p partner - only use http://whatismyipaddress.com/ to get this outside IP of your router.

6) on xplane got to aircraft - aircarft&situations: choose the number of aircrafts which are in the p2p group - (I am not sure if the type of aircraft will be choosen automatically cause the p2p group is connectd) if not choose the aircrafts of your p2p partners out of the ONLINE folder!

If you did everything well close the Net Connection Window and got to a certain airport with your partner choose a stand in the neighbourhood and a plane from the ONLINE folder. and then look around to see the partner on your screen.

I promise the most difficult thing is to open the router for the TCP and UDP port 49000 for your local xplane computer - cause the way is different from router to router - just check the router manuals - the rest is easy - important is the ONLINE folder with the identical aircrafts.

you will see it is big fun cause you see the plane in the high resolution as you see your plane and this looks pretty cool in the air and it will leed you to fun competitions like crosswindlandings where you can watch the efforts of your partner captain to make it better then you. :D

any questions :?: Tom

ps.: maybe we can do an online tutorial via skype or teamspeak which is the best method to communicate during flight - let me think about my time scedule
