Just wondering what would happen if I use and file a different aircraft as the one mentioned in the dispatch.

I have a homebuild 737NG cokpit and therefore I only fly the 737NG. Would this mean that I cannot fly, say, A320 routes or other routes that could also be done by the 737?

Hi Jeroen,

maybe Norbert can tell you more about his own experience because it's the same situation for him (737 home cockpit).

Personally, I think it's up to you. The flight plan calculations are based on the indicated aircraft, so there will be differences between different types and you should keep that in mind when flying an A320 instead of a 737, for instance. Also, in your reports it will still say Airbus if the scheduled route is for the Airbus. This is because our script doesn't take the actual aircraft type from FS (not all Pirep systems provide the same data; some don't have aircraft data at all) but the data from your booking.
Other than that there shouldn't be major problems. However, if you want to use the 737 for a route scheduled for, let's say the 747, I'd suggest making a charter flight on that same route instead. Later on we'd like to include a business model for the VA, calculating income and expenses. Using "wrong" aircraft types would then lead to miscalculations.

Jeroen, we have think about your good question. Here is a suggestion:
If you file a charter flight, you don't get a route at the moment. The programm gives you only the direct distance, olso if you are filing a flight that is already in the TimeTable. In the future we will make it possible that the programm is searching our database for stored routes and FS-Flightplans. So if you are filing for example a charter flight from EGBB to EDDK (flight ACH1181 in the TimeTable) you will get the same route and FS-Flightplan as in the TimeTable but calculated with the aircraft you are using. (B737 for yours for example).

Still questions about flights !

Can I fly a plane for which we still dont have house liveries yet....
For example PSS B777-200 and so on.....?
