Dear Air-Child pilots,
as you all know the earthquake in Nepal is an ongoing human disaster. Thousands of people are badly involved in this dramatic situation. And it becomes worse every day.
As a VA with a charity aspect we’d like to do something, even if it’s mostly a symbolic act. Frank Kunath came up with the idea of charity flights to Katmandu collecting money for every flight made to (virtually) support the cause. However, you also know that Air-Child VA is neither a profit organization nor is it run by rich people. So, there is no money to donate, unless we collect some. This, of course, should entirely happen on a voluntary basis. None of the pilots taking part in relief flights will be forced to donate! Only those of you who can spare a few bucks - or wanted to donate anyway - are welcome to let us know about it.
As wonderful as it would be to raise a 5 Euro donation for every flight, we can and will not do this because it would restrict those flights to paying members. So we rather count on your individual, voluntary kindness and support.
Also, we will not physically collect any donations. For legal reasons and because the VA does not hold a bank account. So, all donations you want to make, you’ll have to make them on your own. You can go by or by whatever national UNICEF section you prefer. Just state the Nepal Earthquake Support as a reference.
Please send a PM to Tom Weber with your donation amount that we can see how much is the overall amount of donations, which we will post after this event.
The coming week, starting on Sunday, May 3rd, can be used by any Air-Child pilot to fly virtual live-saving supplies to Nepal. Feel free to choose your own departure and route, or follow the routes offered by Frank Kunath. We will count all flights made to Katmandu, be it online or offline.
