so sad

Ooops!

In fact I can thank you both, Norbert and you, because each of you have gave me a part of the final solution.

So thanks again Norbert AND Peter by which I'm an happy pilot again ;)

Cheers
Pierre

Are you using "AES" by any chance on your flights :?:

I downloaded the trial version for the free airports yesterday and did a quick traffic pattern in EDDN - max SIM time up and running 10/15mins and on short finals, "wamm bamm, lights out"... FS crashes..

redo this quick test flight again, same thing.. seems that AES is using the left over bits&bites.. at least on my system.. about 6 months old and not that filled up FS... 8)

Hallo Norbert, :hi:

Yes I use AES on few airports like EDDK.
I don't know if it gutly, but each time I'm located on EDDK, The FS menu take a long time to load.
I use AES with some others airport with which I haven't problem.

However It's a way to investigate. :?

Thanks for tip

Cheers
Pierre ;)

another sad story for me... not once but twice...

LOWW-EHAM -> flying on PMDG 737-700 on finals for 18C ended up in CTD after the menu list of FS9 disappeared which for I know is the culprit for some unknown reason...
:envy:

LOWW-EDDF - same bird flying... 5 mins. after departure of MOTIX SID at FL280, blagg.. crash down...
:envy:

Hello Genno,

I perfectly know this kind of situation. :S

Since I follow the tips provided in this tread, I haven't problem yet. :p
I simply use AutoSave and FSFK.

If a FS crash occurs, I save flight into FSFK, reload FS with the AutoSave last recorded situation and reload the FSFK flight. Thus, FSFK continue the flight until landing at destination. Then I can send a complete PIREP to Air-Child dispatch and don't lose time and point.

So I'm now an HAPPY Pilot !!!

Cheers
Pierre ;)

Just a reminder for those who want to buy FSFK: http://www.air-child.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=284

in windows 7 with FS9.1 I use Game Booster , that have a really cool option that is to defrag games directories and best of all is for free!!!

And this the second post today that I found after i need something!!! Yesterday my FS just puffffffffff 50nm to land!

Hey guys,

maybe another source of error to talk about.
I've experienced the same symptoms and problems with CTD and especially the problem of "FS9 is running out of memory and will therefore be closed" (or similar).
I recognized the problem after the install of Ultimate Terrain Europe. Due to this i decided to uninstall the mesh again. Sadly the problem didn't disappear.

Within the next few weeks I have tried to work with the O&O Defrag, reboots, closing unnecessary processes, ...
Sometimes FS9 made it possible to land and send the PIREPs, but most of the time I ended up with a crash when I was about to turn the heading knob to the ILS intercept course.

The result of some research on the internet is:
The problem with running out of memory is based on errors in scenery and landclass related folders / configs. I've downloaded the Flight Sim Manager 2.8.5 from avsim (look for fsm285.zip) and ran the diagnostics tool. The one source of error (empty landclass folders) was terminated by checking them manually and with the tool. The check of the sceneries with the help of FSM came up with 26 (!) errors in my scenery.cfg ...
A lot of errors with cities ... (maybe based on UT Europe Install and uninstall), and an index-leak resulting in a memory leak upon allocation of RAM.
Fixed the problems now and will start a test flight TNCM-EHAM tonight.

As many virtual pilots are concerned with the same type of problem and solution, I'm very optimistic :)

Maybe this helps some of you when experiencing troubles with crashes on approach !
It is stated in countless forums that CTDs and Memory Leaks are based on errors in scenery and landclass :)

best regards,
Mario

EDIT: Thats it !

Thank you for the Flight Sim Manager 2.8.5 hint. For those who get an error when starting Flight Sim Manager 2.8.5, please set your Date in your computer some years later. 2005 for example and it will work. Don't forget to set the Date to the actual year after you have done your work with the Flight Sim Manager 2.8.5.
There is also a little tool, that will make this work for you. It's called "DKil95 Manager". So you don't have to change your Date everytime you are working with Flight Sim Manager 2.8.5. You can get "DKil95 Manager" here: http://www.das-download-archiv.de/softw ... dkill.html
